Face-to-face (AKA In-Person) –All class sessions are held in the physical presence of the instructor and enrolled students. Most often the location is one of the college campuses or centers, but could also be at a remote location identified in the Schedule of Classes.
Partially Online (AKA Hybrid) –Students will attend some of the class sessions in the physical presence of the instructor, and some of them in either an Online Synchronous or Online Asynchronous modality.
Online Synchronous –Students are required to attend some or all of the class sessions “live” with their instructor via an online technology such as Zoom. While sections may be a combination of Online Synchronous and Online Asynchronous, a class section is considered Online Synchronous if one or more lecture hours are held in this manner. Note that the date(s) and time(s) of any required synchronous or “live” sessions will be listed in the Schedule of Classes.
Online Asynchronous –Students complete their coursework without ever being required to be “live” with their instructor. While sections may be a combination of Online Synchronous and Online Asynchronous, a class section would be considered Online Asynchronous if students are never required to be “live” with their instructor during the course of the semester.
HyFlex – This modality allows students the option to attend each class meeting in any of the modalities listed, which could include in-person, online synchronous, and/or online asynchronous. The instructor is available in-person for each scheduled meeting, and students can choose to attend in person or online for each session without the need to notify the instructor.
